1848 (Apr. 10) "Camp near Arispa's Mill, Mexico to Portsmouth, Va., envelope with datelined letter endorsed "From the Army" and "Via New Orleans", entered the mails with blue "Brazos St. Jago/Texas/Apl 20" c.d.s. and matching "10" rating, a fine Mexican War usage.

Letter from E.T. Balmire states that the news of peace has made a considerable change in the behavior of the citizens of Saltillo towards Americans. They are now quite sociable and friendly, "the very best feeling exists between us and the pretty senoritas".
